My goal as a photographer is to capture the world in images of my own experience that can be shared universally. Throughout the past three years of study in photography at The College of St. Scholastica, I have developed a deep passion for capturing people in their truest moments. When photographing an individual, I engage them in organic conversation in order to reveal their most natural expressions. Through sharing stories, laughs, and moments of silence, the truest human expressions begin to show themselves. The ways we communicate nonverbally, without the barrier of language, allow us as individuals to relate to and begin to understand the world of other people. Much of the inspiration for my work in photography comes from my aunt, Sarah Gutknecht, who has traveled to many corners of the earth and touched the lives of people around the globe. My hope is to inspire others to honor themselves and others for who they are individually.
